His Name is Yeshua

You do with it what you will.  I, personally, am a little on edge using the name "Jesus".

Why?

The Bible repeatedly teaches that there is immense power, authority, and salvation associated with calling on, believing in, and acting in "His name".  

For me, it's clear that His name is not Jesus... if anything, it is closer to Joshua (in English). We may know Him by that name, and He may be ok with us using that name. For myself, I prefer to use His Hebrew/Aramaic name... Yeshua. Below, are just a couple of examples: [Act 4:12 LSB]  “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” [Joh 14:13-14 LSB]  “Whatever you ask in My name, this will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14]  “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. [Mar 16:17-18 LSB]  “And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; [18]  and they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Having said that... in biblical culture, a "name" represented the full identity, character, authority, and reputation of the person. Yeshua's name embodies:

• His role as Savior ("Yeshua" means "Yahweh saves" — Matthew 1:21).
• His exaltation after the cross and resurrection.
• The exclusive channel to the Father (John 14:6 — "No one comes to the Father except through me").

Whether pronounced as "Jesus" (English/Greek/Latin-derived), "Yeshua" (Hebrew/Aramaic), or "Iēsous" (original Greek NT), the power resides in faith in who He is and what He accomplished—not in perfect pronunciation.

Some will claim that the apostles used the Greek form without issue, and miracles followed. Did they "use" the Greek form, or only write in the Greek form? I doubt any of them used Greek as their daily spoken language. They were Hebrew (except for Luke) and spoke mostly in Aramaic. Although, I'm sure they preached in Greek, when necessary, also.

Believers today access this power through faith, prayer, and obedience—calling on His name for salvation (Romans 10:13), healing, deliverance, or strength. It's not a formula to manipulate God, but a relationship of trust in the One who holds all authority.

I'm not trying to be dogmatic on this issue, but clearly - during the time of Yeshua, He was called Yeshua - not Jesus. If you've read my blogs, you'll also know that I clearly question everything when it comes to our English translations. I know for a fact that man has planted corrupt seeds throughout our English translations. Some of it, I believe to be intentional. For me, I choose to use Yeshua... it's not that difficult to make the change.
