Daniel asks the million dollar question:
[Dan 12:8 LSB] As for me, I heard but could not understand; so I said, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these events?”
What events?
[Dan 12:7 LSB] And I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time [1,260 days]; and as soon as they complete shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed.
The holy people [Israel] will not be "shattered" until the end of Daniel's 70th week. It is then that they will look upon the One they pierced and recognize Him as their Messiah.
[Dan 12:9-10 LSB] Then he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for these words are concealed and sealed up until the time of the end. [10] “Many will be purged, purified, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.
Above, we have confirmation that Daniel 12 is dealing with the consummation... "the time of the end".
[Dan 12:11 LSB] “But from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up [midpoint of the 70th week], there will be 1,290 days.
We know from Scripture that the abolishment of the regular sacrifice and the abomination mark the midpoint of the 70th week. These two events happen simultaneously.
[Dan 9:27 LSB] “And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will make sacrifice and grain offering cease; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”
There's an extra 30 days mentioned above in Daniel 12:11. This period of 30 days extends beyond the second half of the 70th week. The first and second half of Daniel's 70th week are 1,260 days each [2,520 days total].
Some have referred to this 30 day period as the reclamation period. I guess I'm ok with that and for simplicity, I will also use this term when referring to this 30 day period.
From the time the abomination is established until the complete destruction of the Antichrist (at the Battle of Armageddon) there will be 1,290 days.
"even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."
Below, is in context with the Day of the Lord (v. 11):
[Isa 11:4 NAS95] But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked [singular].
This places the Battle of Armageddon on day 1,290... 30 days beyond the 70th week.
[Rev 19:19-21 LSB] Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war with Him who sits on the horse and with His army. [20] And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who did the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. [21] And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sits on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
If we view the Revelation as a literal sequence of events, we also see that God's judgments extend beyond the 70th week. The seventh trumpet will sound during this timeframe and the bowl judgments (the "final" wrath of God) will be poured out.
During this brief 30 day period Christ will accomplish much!
I think I'm going to need to create another blog: The Reclamation Period
